Artist's Project Description
Stippled Sketch is an experimental attempt to imitate the result of sitting down and mindlessly finding form on the page. The process of pressing the pen to paper in a rhythmic, repeated pattern can be a form of meditation, much like doodling.
The form at the center of the sketch can sometimes take a clear and recognizable shape, but it can also appear meandering and meaningless at times. Some forms appear more often than others (such as a clover and circle), but the equation at the core of the algorithm has surprised me quite a few times with unique and unusual shapes, even after reviewing thousands of previews.
I like to think of this collection as a reflection of a time in my life when I wanted to say so much—and I could put the pen to the paper, but I knew that no words would have any effect, so I sketched to focus my attention on something else instead.
