Stippled Sketch is an experimental attempt to imitate the result of sitting down and mindlessly finding form on the page. The process of pressing the pen to paper in a rhythmic, repeated pattern can be a form of meditation, much like doodling. The form at the center of the sketch can sometimes take a clear and recognizable shape, but it can also appear meandering and meaningless at times. Some forms appear more often than others (such as a clover and circle), but the equation at the core of the algorithm has surprised me quite a few times with unique and unusual shapes, even after reviewing thousands of previews. I like to think of this collection as a reflection of a time in my life when I wanted to say so much—and I could put the pen to the paper, but I knew that no words would have any effect, so I sketched to focus my attention on something else instead. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — Special thanks to Laurent Houdard and Lisa Orth for helping with a few technical aspects.
