"Cellular Housing" is the second part of the "Cellular Architecture" series. It explores ways to inspire architecture by using generative algorithms.
The construction follows a variation of the algorithm used in the first project "Cellular Skyscrapers". Towers originate from a 14x14 grid with 14x2 cells randomly assigned the 'alive' state. According to the cellular automaton rule chosen from the transaction hash 14 new generations are calculated and placed on top of each other.
Two new cellular automata rules have been added which tend to generate interesting housing structures. In total there are six rules listed below (in Golly notation):
B3/S23 (Game of Life)
* Cell Count
* Color Palette (4 variations)
* Press 'd' to export a 4000x4000px PNG File
* Press 'c' to cycle through color palettes
