The long haul just feels so…. long sometimes. So far to go, so many obstacles, so many intricacies – often it can be difficult to see through the challenges and remember that everything complex can be divided into smaller, simpler pieces. This project is about going back to basics and starting with building blocks like simply delightful objects that bring me joy, my roots in typography & lettering, and – as a metaphor for clarity – the core components of language: our ABCs. At the same time, this series is about pushing forward – continuing to evolve the style of my recent generative AI work, which is itself an extension of a lifelong art making practice. If ever the path towards art feels blocked, these works remind me to proceed with simplified persistence. So “ABCs” is both a continuation of the long journey, and the start of something new. Even the 26 letters of this project are a symbol of the 26 founding members of Tender that helped start the community that continues to grow, and inspire me. Releasing this project marks another milestone in our efforts to bridge generative art across platforms, and it’s another way for our collaborations to reach new collectors. What comes next is sure to be a challenge, but I’m excited as ever for this ride – and for it being as long as possible.
